Sorrow fills the hearts of the Godwin family and friends as Beatrice Godwin of Bivins, Texas, passes away at age 86. During her life, she was known by many names: Bea, Daughter, Sister, Friend, Red, Wife, Mom, but most knew her by Granny. No matter what name you knew her by, everyone knew her to be inspiring. She inspired her children to be strong adults, her grandchildren to dream big, and she even inspired non-believers to clearly see the Lord. So, do not let your heart fill with sorrow at the loss of such an amazing woman; instead, her family asks that you celebrate her life and all that she inspired. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Neda Foster; sister, Inez Martin; and a granddaughter, Karen Godwin Manley.

Beatrice is survived by Willie Dean Godwin, Sr of Bivins, her husband of over 71 years; three children, Willie D. Godwin, Jr. and wife Brenda Joyce, James E. Godwin, and Brenda K. Cross; grandchildren, Deidre Carroll and husband David, Kendra Anderson and husband Michael, Matt Adams and wife Tara, Melodie Hodges and husband Mike, Dennis Godwin and wife Kim, Mandi Moore and husband Dustin, Cory Cross and wife Darcy, Clint Cross and wife Ashley, and Keri Cross; great-grandchildren, Jacob Manley and wife Meghan, Hunter Godwin, Haylie Chesworth, Ashton Carroll, Jordan Carroll, Mattie Carroll, Mitchell Anderson, Rian Maldonado, Thomas Hodges, Nate Hodges, Kile Adams, Hope Adams, Cason Cross, Cadence Cross, and Casey Kole Cross.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Bethsaida "Y" Baptist Church, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service, with Bro. Frank Carroll and Bro. J. W. Crow officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 13, 2013, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service.

Interment will be in Huffines Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Texas 75231; or to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.

I am so sorry for your loss. May God be with you. My parents were R.L. and Elizabeth Blanton and I remember your family from my childhood and the time I lived in Bivins. My grandparents were Sam and Vera Tolleson and my great grandparents were H.D. and Elizabeth Ray.
